MUSIC
Jeff Greinke has been composing, recording, and performing his otherworldly musical landscapes since 1980. He has released 25 solo albums and has performed throughout the US and Europe, as well as in Canada, Mexico, China, Hong Kong and Macau. Jeff has a degree in meteorology and weather has remained a central theme of his heavily atmospheric work. Through a meticulous process of layering using various synthesizers, samplers, effects, and an assortment of acoustic sound making devices, Jeff creates highly evocative soundscapes conjuring a strong sense of place hovering somewhere between the exotic and familiar.
“An exquisitely nuanced collection of ambient chamber music, Before Sunrise blurs the lines between classical and electronic genres in the most striking manner imaginable. Jeff Greinke’s been crafting music and releasing recordings for decades, and the sensibility the sound sculptor, artist, and designer has refined over the course of that production period is evident in every fibre of the recording’s being.”
— TEXTURA
“From the opening notes of delicate piano with heavy reverb, backed by echoing effects and synth washes, it is apparent that Lost Terrain is going to be a sublime, soothing experience. Brian Eno and Harold Budd fans will revel in it. “
— WIND AND WIRE
“Unhurried notes out of a soft aura of reverberation, to disappear with dreamy deliberation. This ambient music builds and shapes, breathes and sighs, blooms and sleeps, then detours into unexpected zones, tones, textures and states - leaving behind nothing more than a mysterious human trace.”
— STARS END
"Back in 1985, Jeff Greinke released an LP of ambient industrial music titled Cities in Fog. The sound of industry and contemporary cityscapes – grinding metal, pounding machinery – were tempered and processed in the studio, producing a removed impressionistic haze. Though the imagery was disturbing, even nightmarish, it was equally compelling, seductive, and undeniably beautiful."
